NBA Front Office: 2019 Salary Cap Game

April 2019

Introduction

Just a decade ago, there were less than ten players making $20+ million a year, but now that number has increased five-fold, as roughly a dozen players have signed $30+ million contracts. This is a clear indicator of skyrocketing payrolls, yet front offices continue to form “super teams” that severely exceed salary caps. With the average salary cap of about $100 million, can you build a championship team?

Example Team

The screenshot to the left shows the roster builder and a sample roster of ten players.

Users can add or delete players from their roster or start over from scratch. Note that users can only sign players from a pool of players whose contracts will not place a team’s payroll above the salary cap.

Each player is displayed with their current team and salary, in order of salary. The game also prints out the total payroll and remaining cap space.
